New Scholarship for SC/ST students

SC/ST students will be eligible for 100% fee waiver for both free seats category as well as payment seats category

Government GO:
All scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students of self-financing educational institutions in Tamil Nadu, including those admitted under the ‘payment seats' category, will now be eligible for the benefits of a scheme under which all compulsory fees collected by the institutions would be paid on their behalf by the government.

Chief Minister Jayalalithaa decided to extend the concession, presently enjoyed by scheduled caste/ scheduled tribe students of government and government-aided institutions, to all SC/ST students in private, unaided institutions.

All courses recognized by the government would be covered by the scheme, and the entire fee fixed by the government-appointed Fee Committee for Self-Financing Colleges would be borne by the government under the Centre's Post-Matric Scholarship scheme from 2011-12.
